Abu Dhabi's G42 expands European AI footprint through Greece partnerships

G42 takes a broader European step

Abu Dhabi-based technology group G42 has signed a set of agreements with Greek public- and private-sector partners to explore artificial intelligence infrastructure and applied services. The proposed work spans data centres, cloud computing, government operations, education, urban management and life sciences, giving the group several possible entry points into the Greek and wider European market.

The agreements involve G42 alongside five portfolio companies. Project values were not disclosed, and the group said scope and timetables still need to be defined. Implementation also remains subject to definitive agreements and applicable regulatory approvals.

An AI factory anchors the infrastructure plan

Khazna Data Centers and Core42 will work with Greece's Copelouzos Group to examine an AI factory that would combine physical data-centre capacity with cloud and AI computing. Under the proposed structure, Khazna would develop the physical infrastructure while Core42 would provide cloud and compute capabilities.

Potential customers include banks, telecommunications operators, shipping companies and government organisations. The structure reflects G42's wider “Intelligence Grid” approach, which links data-centre infrastructure, computing capacity, cloud services and sector-specific applications rather than treating them as separate investments.

Government and city applications

Presight signed an agreement with Greece's Ministry of Digital Governance to explore urban analytics. Initial work is expected to focus on waste management and water-network monitoring using synthetic and open data, while public-transport safety is also being studied.

Inception42 will assess AI tools for government-priority monitoring and cabinet support, as well as training for civil servants. The education track includes possible AI tutors and digital learning platforms, extending the partnership from infrastructure into day-to-day public services.

Life sciences and two-way market access

M42 will work with Athens LifeTech Park on biotechnology, genomics, oncology, rare genetic diseases and neuroscience research. The arrangement is also intended to give UAE start-ups a route into European markets while offering Greek and European ventures access to the UAE's technology and investment ecosystem.

What it means for investors

The package is significant because it combines capital-intensive digital infrastructure with recurring cloud, analytics and specialist-service opportunities. For Gulf investors, it shows how UAE technology groups are using international partnerships to diversify beyond their home market. The next milestones will be definitive contracts, regulatory clearances, disclosed capital commitments and a timetable for the proposed AI factory.
